Canada's Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Meeting With defending champion Dodgers
Springer contributed to the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial Fall Classic after 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the ALCS.
Behind by two runs, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh frame, leading the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 triumph in the series. They will now face the Dodgers, the team that is the reigning title, in the forthcoming World Series.
"It's incredible for our team, our city, Canada," said Springer, a star of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "This is such an incredible feeling."
Springer has now hit 23 total playoff homers, placing him third all-time behind Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"I can't think of another person anywhere that I'd choose in that moment other than George Springer with his playoff prowess," said manager John Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it's going to sting" following his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their work throughout the year.
"It's a special team. Sadly that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this game," he added.
Toronto's team secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Dodgers in the first game on Friday.
