Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest Far Cry game that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for embracing violence and madness with equal excitement, all while telling engaging, socially charged tales. Little surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two visionaries whose work have embodied all of those elements.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game property, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' format by introducing a fresh backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the producer.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX family constantly supports me with their steady confidence and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a take of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a story,” said Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can shift from season to season, while always exploring the core of humanity through this intricate and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to partner with Rob and present our mutual unconventional, ambitious approach to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
