Previous British Broadcasting Corporation Consultants Face MPs' Questioning After Assertions of Partiality in Unauthorized Memo

Ex- British Broadcasting Corporation consultants speaking at parliamentary committee

We start with questions from Tory Member of Parliament Caroline Dinenage, that leads the group.

She opens by giving context to the leaked memorandum written by Michael Prescott and published in a national newspaper.

"It is not my wish for the British Broadcasting Corporation leaning in any particular direction, My only wish is for it straight, unbiased and just," he states.

In response to a query if he believes the British Broadcasting Corporation is systematically partial, Prescott replies: "No I don't. To be clear, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation creates is top-tier - encompassing informative and fictional shows."

However, he continues: "There is significant effort that must be undertaken at the BBC."

The second previous consultant BBC adviser interviewed by the group, Caroline Daniel, remarks she regards the BBC with great importance and that it has a "ongoing system and active debate" on dynamic and complex topics.

"Whether the BBC was prepared to conduct a genuine discussion and debate and act accordingly?" she reflects. "As I see it, indeed, they were."
